Approaches to the internet

Positive:

• Decrease distance between people around the world
• More wealth
• Solving problems of education
• More flexible identities (live richer lifes)
• Overcoming the limits of the body
• Extropians (humans will be able to live their entire lives on the internet)

Negative

• Decrease of communication in the social context
• Increase of isolation
• Erosion of strong ties
• Decrease of feeling responsible

De negatieve benaderingen komen vooral uit het gezichtspunt van mensen die het toekomstbeeld van het internet spiegelen aan de pre-internet periode. Vaak wordt hierbij de sociale ontwikkelingen van het internet vergeten.
